Patricia StandTal Clarke is Sámi and Eastern Band Cherokee (Wolf Clan), the daughter of Barbara J. Syverson (first generation Norwegian-American) and Howard D. Clarke who survived forced boarding school to become a veteran career officer and pilot in the United States Air Force. In October 1978, after 17 years of training from seven elders, she was made a Didanawisgi (Two Spirited Traditional Medicine Healer) in ceremony. Dr. Clarke received her bachelors from UC Berkeley, her medical degree (MD) from the University of Minnesota, her Family Medicine residency at Dartmouth, her Integrative Medicine fellowship with Andrew Weil, and her DMin from Claremont School of Theology. She was ordained a Priest in May 1981 (UCC). Milton Erickson taught her hypnosis; the grandmothers and Michael Moore herbalism; Alan Gaby nutrition; Dr. Kyung-Ho (Ken) Min taekwondo. She trained with Sophie Freud Lowenstein, the granddaughter of Sigmund Freud, in psychoanalysis. She is a Registered Trainer in acupuncture. Her private medical practice is SheDoc Integrative Family Practice. The Reverend Doctor Clarke serves as Minister of Wholeness at Shadow Rock UCC (Southwest Conference). She truly holds expertise in body, mind, and soul. She has served over 49 years with the United Nations, World Health Organization, and World Council of Churches; 4+ decades as a protestant Priest serving local and national faith communities; 46 years as Executive Director of RedRoad Medicine (Native American medical, theological, and policy think tank); 25 years in private medical practice; on faculty at two medical schools; as principal investigator in HIV/ diabetes/ Native medicine research. She is a recognized author and keynote speaker whilst a powerful policy broker.
