A significant gap exists between consumer expectations and practitioner digital infrastructure. Practitioners without websites are less likely to be found through organic search, limiting patient access regardless of clinical quality.

What This Means for Consumers

The alternative wellness industry is large, credentialed, and geographically distributed — but quality varies significantly. With an average BDS score of 4.5/100 and 61.0% of providers holding verifiable credentials, consumers have strong options available when they know what to look for. BestDosage's scoring makes quality transparent — the best practitioners are objectively identifiable before the first appointment.

Methodology

Data aggregated from BestDosage's proprietary database of wellness providers, enriched with Google Places data via Outscraper. BDS Scores calculated using our transparent 8-category methodology.

BestDosage research draws on our verified provider database, updated monthly from state licensing boards, professional associations, and direct provider submissions. The BDS Score composite methodology weights credentials (30%), experience (20%), patient reviews (25%), practice transparency (15%), and accessibility (10%).
