Kirksak Jay Poonkasem, MD, FAAFP, ABOIM, DipABLM, NASM-CPT, NASM-CES, is board certified in family medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, lifestyle medicine and integrative medicine. His clinical specialties are lifestyle medicine, medical acupuncture and integrative medicine. While working in hospice care, Dr. Poonkasem saw the long-term implications of poor lifestyle choices which lead to chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, stroke, Alzheimer's, diabetes and chronic kidney disease. He believes in an integrative approach to health and wellness, taking into account the mind, body, and spiritual connection, and getting back to the basics of nutrition, sleep, exercise and stress management to rebuild health through lifestyle modifications. Dr. Poonkasem is certified in plant-based nutrition, massage therapy and as a personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist.
