The Arthritis Center (AOTRC) is a 26 year old fusion practice of both tradtional, integrative medicine and indigenous healing philosophies. AOTRC blends a high tech approach with a highly personalized healing approaches focusing on arthritis, rheumatic disease, and treatment of autoimmune disorders. Full X-ray, skeletal ultrasound, DÉXA scan, iv infusion, some physical therapy modalities are all available on site. AOTRC is an insurance based practice primarily. The Oasis Institute is a purely preventative medicine clinic specializing in Integrative Medicine with a variety of services and specialties including Nutrition, Health Care Coordination, Vitamin & Supplementation Consults, Arthritis Prevention Consultation, Functional Medicine & Testing, BioIdentical Hormone Programs, Iv Nutrients and advanced nutritional, supplement, & micronutrient deficiency testing and environmental &heavy metal testing. Immune testing for immunosenessence & Telomere evaluation is offered. Homeopathy, TCM and Energy Medicine & Shamanic techniques are other specialized services offered. The Oasis Institute accepts no insurance for most services rendered including all medical consultations. Consultation costs will vary according to length of time. Most consultations will take 1 1/2 hours. Secondary consultations or single problem consultations (eg Nutrition or Supplement Consultation) will usually require one hour. Some non insurance services include specialized diagnostics such as micronutrient and heavy metal testing using the Oligoscan. This is a spectrophotometric driven device that non invasively and rapidly yields reproducible data regarding tissue levels of minerals and heavy metals. Other specialized diagnostics include Advanced Brain Testing using the Evox system, measuring cognitive function, advanced brain anatomical, processing activity, memory, reaction time, and spatial recognition (for early detection of cognitive dysfunction). The Evox system also tests Cutting edge parameters (heart rate variability measurements) to evaluate,diagnose and customize treatment and rehab for closed head injury and concussion. The Oasis Institute Brain Program is the most advanced multi planar grouping of biochemical (brain neurotransmitter profiling)and neurologic functional assessment currently being employed to monitor, follow, diagnose and treat concussion. Redefining early, silent, sustained, or recurrent brain injury and sub clinical autonomic dysfunction differentiates this unique cutting edge approach for athletes or anyone concerned about cognitive dysfunction regardless of cause. Full adherence to NFL, NCAA, MLB, NBA, MMA, World Anti-Doping Policies, & Olympic regulatory bodies is maintained in all treatment and prescriptive programs. Personalized nutrition, supplements, appropriate exercise, advanced training, arthritis and injury prevention protocols are individualized according to specific needs. Dr Munoz is a leader in the field of Integrative Rheumatology and his highly trained staff round out a unique treatment, wellness and prevention program. Because of Dr Munoz's affiliations with the University of Miami and as a Team Physician for the Miami Hurricanes since 1997, elite professional (NFL), collegiate, highschool, youth athletes and even the 'weekend warriors' are under Dr Munoz's sports medicine injury & arthritis prevention programs. Dr Munoz is involved in community outreach programs for youth sports, wellness, athletics and interfacing with local school boards towards reform of school meal programs affecting both underserved and more affluent communities. Dr Munoz serves as the Chief Medical Officer for The Oasis Institute, an Integrative Medicine and Preventative Medicine Practice in Aventura, Florida. He is also the Current Chief General Medical/Internist for the Florida International University Athletics and Clinical Voluntary Professor of Medicine at the Herbert Wertheim FIU School of Medicine. He is a national speaker at events such as The Nutrition Conference, Atlanta 2011; Age Management Medical Group (AMMG) Hollywood, Florida 2012; University of Miami Nutrition Conference (e camp) April 2013 and has given numerous local lectures for faculty & house staff at FIU, UM, and other local academic institutions and community organizations.
