It just so happens to be 4:20 PM as I sit down to write this review — what better time to provide my experiences with (and opinions on) this excellent designer pipe from Session Goods. While not quite as mind-blowing as the Session Goods Bong, the Session Goods Pipe is nonetheless an immaculately designed and uniquely beautiful pipe — even if there appear to be occasional quality control issues.

What are the high points and low points of this simple hand pipe, and just how much better is Session glass than the competition? Find out in this all-encompassing review of the Session Goods Pipe — what it looks like, how it smokes, and whether I’d recommend it to shoppers.

First impressions

Right away, I’m impressed by the packaging this pipe comes in. It’s simple and elegant, and its design is reminiscent of an iPhone box. Inside is an acute-triangle depression surrounded by foam, nestling the pipe inside its case.

The very first moment I ventured a finger inside the silicone lip to pull the pipe out, I felt a little nip. More on that at the end. On the whole, though, the pipe-case combo is a stroke of genius and looks like it belongs hanging on a rack in an upscale, urban kitchen. We say hanging since the pipe case comes with a keychain — more on that under “Accessories.”

Design

What a cool pipe design. As someone who has smoked out of everything from a Pepsi can to multi-thousand-dollar glass-blowing convention glass, I know my way around a dry weed pipe. What I really like about the Session Goods Pipe is its super-simple shape and how that shape nestles perfectly inside the tailor-fit case — almost reminiscent of a push-pop, the iconic freezer treat of childhood memory. Or, maybe a snowcone? Either way, delicious connotations abound even when just beholding the Session Goods Pipe.

As a verified customization and personalization nerd, I love how many options there are with this pipe. Overall, there are 14 different combinations to try, so it’s pretty easy to make your Session Goods Pipe stand out even if other cannabis enthusiasts in the area have brought their own.

The pipe is small without being a “one-hitter”. Nope, this is a full-on pipe — and it smokes great even without a screen, something I’m very impressed with.

Features

Some of the features of the Session Goods Pipe that stand out the most are:

 1. Tailor-fit silicone case: The case is definitely this pipe’s best feature. Silicone is naturally grippy and shock absorbent, dramatically reducing the likelihood of breaking your pipe.

 2. Built-in ash catcher: The pipe is designed with a nub near the mouthpiece that sticks up into the flow of smoke to prevent any burnt plant matter (scooby snacks) from coming through.

 3. Handy keychain: This keychain is the screw-on variety, so it stays solidly on after it’s attached.

 4. Borosilicate glass: Like all Session glass, this pipe is made from super heavy-duty borosilicate (boron + silica) glass — so, it’s basically metal glass.

 5. Multiple color options: Whichever color is your favorite, it’s likely that Session Goods will be able to accommodate you.

 6. Super-simple design: Appreciators of old-school head shop pipes (woah, trippy, man) may be disappointed. Modern, cultured smokers will be greatly pleased.

 7. Slanted mouthpiece: Tired of the smell of burnt nose hair? Be glad that the Session Goods pipe has a slanted mouthpiece, keeping flame away from your face.

Colors

This minimalist pipe comes in two color options and can be equipped with seven different silicone covers. The two pipe colors available are:

  • Ash (gray tinted glass)
  • Cloud (white smoked glass)

The seven cover colors are:

  • Charcoal (gray)
  • Dream (teal)
  • Desire (green)
  • Memory (beige)
  • Paradise (yellow)
  • Horizon (orange)
  • Moonlight (purple)

I received an Ash pipe with a Horizon cover. This color combination is a hit with me, but I also think I would like Cloud with Moonlight.

Accessories

Aside from the usual screens and hemp wicks, there aren’t many accessories to go with this pipe. The only true “accessory” is actually a feature of the pipe: the silicone case. The only other item that could be considered an accessory is the keychain, which also comes with the pipe.

If there are any other smoking accouterments you need, though, Session goods can probably help you out. You can pick up an Ashtray or Stash Jar (whenever they’re no longer sold out), and Session also offers cleaning kits that work with both pipes and bongs.

Durability

The glass this pipe is made from seems a bit thinner than the glass used to make the Session Bong, so I didn’t give it the usual “throw it on the floor and see what happens” test. I did smack it on my desk hard enough to hurt my head with the noise, however, to absolutely no effect except a momentary headache.

This pipe is among the most durable I’ve ever owned simply due to its design. While fanciful, sparkly curlicues win glass-blowing competitions, they look better in display cases than they do in your hand — especially when those cute weed pipe curlicues get smashed or knocked off like trichomes.

The Session Goods pipe, on the other hand, is elegant while also being entirely straightforward. There are no bells or whistles to get tangled up in the everyday act of smoking, and thanks to its ultra-simple design, cleaning this pipe is also a breeze.

Portability

This is probably the most portable pipe that was ever put on this Earth. Never before have I seen an ultra-durable pipe perfectly nestled inside a silicone case attached to a screw-on keychain. Honestly, all I can say is “wow” in the portability department.

Bubbler pipes are usually a no-go when you’re on the go, leaving hand pipes like this one from Session Goods as your only reasonable option. If you are outdoorsy, go to festivals, or do anything else where you are out and about but want to be able to get high at a moment’s notice, this pipe is a sure winner.

Hit harshness

It’s a pipe — there’s pretty much no way to keep the smoke from being harsh. For what it’s worth, though, the design of the Session Goods Pipe inherently keeps scooby snacks from entering your mouth — I like the built-in ash blocker located near the mouthpiece.

So, despite pipes inherently being harsh, Session does a great job of making your smoking experience as comfortable as possible.

Shareability

This is a fun pipe to hold, and the person you pass it to also won’t be worried about breaking some obscure component accidentally. The carb is easy to find, and the little feet keep the pipe reasonably stable when you put it on a tabletop.

When sharing, the only part I’d watch out for is the mouthpiece. Use a lighter or rubbing alcohol to sanitize the pipe before passing it to the next partaker.

Cleaning

Cleaning pipes of this size is usually a breeze: Put it in a container filled with salty water, shake, rinse, and dry. The system is no different with the Session Goods pipe.

The bowl can be cleaned with a paperclip. When the inside gets dirty, we found that immersing the pipe in a sealed tupperware filled with warm Epsom salt water dislodged all the gunk, leaving it perfectly clean after a rinse. Cleaning this pipe is not a problem at all.

Pros/Cons

The only significant con I can think of is the quality control of the pipe, and only in the case of one feature. At the bottom of the pipe are too small nubs that are designed to give it stability when it is resting on a surface.

One of the nubs, however, is extremely sharp and since it is one of the first surfaces your fingers come into contact with when pulling the pipe out of its silicone sheath, this surface gave me a bad impression while also continuing to pose a hazard that I do not know how to resolve. I suppose I could sand the seemingly broken nub down with sandpaper, but that might otherwise scar the surface of the pipe.

Overall, though, every other feature of this beautifully designed pipe is a pro. I even like the artful and subtle logo placed on the front of the pipe. Though it has a minimalist design, the pipe nonetheless functions better than any other I’ve used in recent memory

About Session Goods

Founded by Lenoir Ramirez, a former cannabis C-suite executive, Session Goods has sought to raise the bar for smoking from day one. Starting in 2017, Session Goods has stood out ever since as one of the most reliable producers of bongs, pipes, and smoking accessories anywhere on the internet. Those who have steered away from Session due to pricing will be happy to learn this brand has recently reduced its base prices by around 10%.

Summary: Does Session make the best silicone weed pipe?

While it might not be the perfect long glass pipe to make you feel like Gandalf with your pipeweed, the Session Goods Pipe is a basic, durable bowl pipe that will keep a whole group satisfied on the go. The silicone cover is the best feature of this pipe, but you shouldn’t overlook the design of the glass itself. You might just attach it to your backpack and forget about it, but your Session Goods Pipe will always be there to unsheathe in an instant when the need arises.
