I didn’t find anything to be inconvenient about the process of picking up, unpacking, or smoking my Cookies Gary Payton Pre-Roll. There’s the inherent inconvenience of pre-roll smoke, which is conspicuous, and the need for a flame source, but that’s not worth quibbling about.
The only thing I found significantly inconvenient about my Cookies pre-roll was its size. A full gram is simply too much for one person, so solo smokers should choose joints sized between 0.5 and 0.7 grams.
My Gary Payton pre-roll tasted good, but it was sort of indistinct. Gary Payton has Girl Scout Cookies (a Cookies original) as one of its grandparents via Snowman, and to my nose and palate, the standard GSC dank taste came out the most strongly.
My personal favorite GSC-derivative is Cookies & Cream, and Gary Payton smells and tastes almost exactly the same while being slightly fruitier. Something about Y Griega’s parentage made Gary Payton funky, and the overall result is somehow reminiscent of an NBA star’s ultra-posh and swag locker room.
The bud seemed moist, the joint lit easily, and my lungs were flooded with smoke instantly. Within a minute or so, I started to feel familiar hybrid effects creeping up my spine, and after five minutes had passed, I was comfortably staring out the window without a care in the world.
I didn’t find the effects of Gary Payton to be anything to write home about. They didn’t disappoint me, but they weren’t distinct enough to elicit a major response from someone who has smoked it all.
One thing I’ll say is that Cookies Gary Payton seemed very potent. I chalk that up to a well-executed grow and cure job that left plenty of potency-boosting terpenes intact.
I tried to get through a whole joint and failed. Still, the two-thirds or so that I smoked got me plenty high to enjoy almost two solid hours of relaxed, hybrid vibes.
Prepare for a mini-editorial on the pricing of interstate cannabis brands.
This joint is worth $9-$10 at most. Taxes and other markups take their toll, and I end up paying $12 for a gram joint.
That extra $2 isn’t worth fuming over. It is, however, fuel for thought regarding ideal cannabis pricing.
Prominent brands like Cookies will be looked to as dozen-state (or even two-dozen-state) recreational cannabis distribution becomes commonplace. To compete with encroaching CPG (consumer packaged goods) interests, driving prices down among artisan cannabis manufacturers will be necessary.
Right now, this $12 joint from Cookies just can’t compete with a $5 joint from the future rolled by Marlboro or Camel. A lot will need to change between now and then, and Cookies will be a good brand to watch as the domestic cannabis industry transitions fully into the mainstream.
Go all-in if there’s more than one of you. If you’re on your own, try to save the second half of the joint — but that’s always a sticky, stinky mess.
This is just the type of joint you’re supposed to smoke all at once. If you don’t have the right time and place to do that, you should probably choose a smaller joint instead.
No, Gary Payton isn’t mad that Cookies is using his name. Actually, he’s getting paid for it, so he’s quite pleased.
The strain “Gary Payton” is the result of an active, conscious, and deliberate collaboration between NBA star Gary Payton and California cannabis brand Cookies. It’s not just that this strain gives you swagger to shoot hoops with the homies.
The Cookies Gary Payton Pre-Roll is targeted at bros and bro-ettes who want to bask in the glory of Gary Payton by inhaling high-grade cannabis. I don’t think this pre-roll is right for people who are serious about getting high and deal with chronic conditions on a daily basis. It is, however, the perfect joint to elicit whistles of appreciation when you casually whip it out of your pocket at a party.
Let’s see if we can clear anything else up regarding the Cookies Gary Payton Pre-Roll:
That depends on the product in question. This strain is available in flower, pre-roll, and blunt forms. The Cookies Gary Payton Pre-Roll is usually $10-$15, the blunt is usually $20-$30, and the pricing for Gary Payton flower varies depending on the weight of the buds.
Cookies partnered with Gary Payton in July of 2019 to produce the Gary Payton strain. This collaboration includes the rights to use the NBA Hall-of-Famer’s image and name, and it marked one of the first high-profile collaborations between a cannabis brand and a mainstream celebrity.
To be honest, I liked Gary Payton the best of all the Cookies strains I’ve tried. It has a unique flavor and aroma that’s almost, but not quite, like cookies and cream, and the smooth texture and pleasant effects of Gary Payton have earned Cookies an enduring place in the heart of this often-jaded cannabis consumer.
