The 3 Best CBD Oil Vape Pen Starter Kits

What’s the best cbd vape starter kit on the market? That somewhat it depends on your needs and preferences, such as opting for a PG/VG base or a “pure” CBD vape oil suspended in MCT oil. Here are a few different product recommendations so you choose the right CBD vape kit.

#1: CBDfx Vape Kit

This CBD vape kit hit the market more recently than the ones below, but instantly became a favorite of ours. It’s the first tank system created specifically for CBD vape oil, the kind mixed with PG/VG. It’s easy to refill the tank and it heats CBD vape oil to the perfect temperature.

If you chose MCT in the above section II, meaning “pure” CBD oil without PG or VG, this is probably your best option. It is meant to allow you to vape CBD oil and uses a cartridge instead of a tank, so you don’t need to refill anything.

The Vape Bright CBD vape pen kit comes with a “thrive” cartridge with 200mg of CBD, a battery, charger, and a case. At $55 it isn’t a major investment and can get you vaping right away. Purchases of more cartridges will add up, however.

#3: Halo Triton II Starter Kit

For those of you who lean toward the PG/VG option, meaning getting some real CBD vape juice, this would be a perfect place to start.

Halo has produced quality electronic cigarettes and vaporizers for years, and always at a very reasonable price. With this vape pen starter kit, they package everything you need, with a couple of batteries, tanks, etc.

You have it all, all the makings of a great CBD vape pen kit, and for only $45.

The only thing it doesn’t come with is the actual CBD vape juice, but this hardware will allow you to refill over and over again.

That’ll save you a lot of money over a disposable CBD vape pen or a CBD vape kit pod system with throwaway cartridges/pods.

The Triton II is a great vaping device, and this makes for an excellent CBD oil vape pen starter kit.

CBD Oil Vape Pen Starter Kit VS Disposable CBD Vape Pen

Okay, the ridiculously long name aside, the first question you have to ask yourself is if a CBD oil vape pen starter kit is the right choice. You do have the option of simply picking up a disposable CBD vape pen. Why choose a full CBD vape starter kit? There are some pros and cons to consider.

Let’s start with the case for a disposable CBD vape pen. This is pretty easy to explain. As the name implies, these vape pens can be thrown away after you’re done with them. You use up all the CBD oil and then you toss it.

No need to think about charging a battery or refilling it with CBD vape juice.

You’ll often find newer CBD vapers (those who vape) going for this option. It isn’t a bad choice, and there are some great ones on the market. Such as the very tasty disposable CBD vape pen kit from CBDfx, that now comes in four awesome flavors: Strawberry Lemonade, Fresh Mint, Blue Raspberry, and Tropical Breeze .

We have a great time with this CBD vape pen kit, even if it is disposable. It’s small and easy to just grab and go. The problem is that a disposable CBD vape pen can get pricey. It’s also not great on the environment since you are throwing away so many batteries!

The more cost-effective and environmentally conscientious choice would be a CBD oil vape pen starter kit. These would come with everything you need to get going with vaping CBD, and gives you the ability to use it over and over again.

There is a lot on the market today, so it’s crucial that you understand the important criteria so you can know how to choose one.

Vape Pods or Tanks

Making a decision on which CBD oil vape pen starter kit is best for you don’t have to be incredibly complicated. Let’s take you through a few of the most important decisions you’ll make first, and then some other factors to consider.

First, you need to make a very basic decision on a cartridge or vape pod type system versus a tank system. If you choose a vape pod system, it can mean you’re going halfway disposable.

Once your CBD vape pod is spent, you just throw it away and use another. Some pod vape systems allow you to refill the pod a few times yourself. That’s the case with Koi Stik.

You do recharge the battery so not everything is a waste. Vape pod systems like this are a good choice to save time and are really easy to use.CBD vape pen kitIf you go for a tank system you need to refill it yourself, but it gives you a lot more options. Generally, these will come with bigger batteries that will last you longer between charges.

They’ll also give you more options in terms of voltage or temperature to heat too, and some will let you vape plant matter as well, if you also want to vape other things.

For beginners, this is more than what they need from their CBD vape pen, but it’s good to consider considering the cost advantages in the long run.

PG/VG or MCT

This is a hotly debated topic, and probably will be for a long time.

Regular vape pens, the kind smokers might use to cut down or quit entirely, always contain PG, VG, or both. That would be propylene glycol (PG) or vegetable glycol (VG).

PG vs VG CBD vape pen

It’s what is used to actually create the vapor, that similar sort of feeling they crave. PG and VG have kind of gotten a bad rap due to some research that hasn’t completely checked out.

There’s a lot of people that come to bat for vaping propylene glycol, judging by these quora answers on the subject. In fact, there is a lot of misinformation out there that has largely been debunked, even by the CDC itself.

With all of that being said, it stands to reason that the most popular way to vape CBD is indeed with a PG/VG mix. That’s why when you’re buying a CBD oil vape pen starter kit, it probably comes with CBD vape oil, not actually CBD oil.

This is simply confusion over the name. CBD vape oil will be comprised of PG/VG along with CBD, and that’s perfectly fine as far as we are concerned. If you’re worried about PG/VG, then you might decide to go with MCT oil as a base.

Some CBD users will insist they want to vape “only” CBD. They don’t need to feel like they are smoking and exhale vapor, so why vape PG/VG, which is what creates those elements?

Well, vaping pure CBD isn’t actually possible, but it can be suspended in MCT oils, such as coconut oil or olive oil. There are fears that this type of vaping can cause lipoid pneumonia, while many swear this is the best way to vape CBD.

It’s still a bit muddled at the moment, so it really depends on what the latest research is and what you decide to believe. On a whole, both methods have lots of fans that swear by each type of CBD vape kit.

Whichever side of this argument you land on, just make sure that the CBD oil vape pen starter kit you choose can handle it.

Vape pens and vape tanks are constructed to handle PG/VG, so that’s not a problem. But CBD oil suspended in MCT is much thicker, and not all devices can take it.

That may be where you are better off with a disposable CBD vape pen that is built specifically to handle CBD oil.

Price and Quality

Some of you may have scrolled down to here, and we do realize that price is important. Budgets are tight, and nobody wants to spend more than they need to. The trick here is to find a quality CBD vape kit at a good price.

You don’t necessarily need to sacrifice in order to stay within a certain price range.

First, it’s important that you don’t just buy cheap products. This is really counterproductive. They’ll break sooner and you’ll end up spending more money in the long run.

Not to mention the fact that they may not heat your CBD vape juice properly, and it’s hugely important to get to the right temperature, which is around 210°C/410°F.

You’re using CBD to help you with any of a number of ailments, so getting the most out of it is crucial and worth a few extra bucks.

Where you can save on is perhaps choosing a product with fewer bells and whistles. If you are set on only using CBD vape juice and nothing else, you don’t need a product that is multifaceted.

There are some great CBD oil vape pen starter kits that hit the right price/quality ratio. We’ve highlighted a couple of them below for you.

  • Hi,
I’m wondering about Halo’s original Triton vape pen: can this be used to vape CBD vape juice? I’ve found several websites offering good reviews of the Triton II for this purpose but I’m interested in the original Triton and since I know nothing about vaping CBD I’d really appreciate your input. The general description of each pen on Halo’s website is more or less the same so I’m assuming the original Triton is suitable for vaping CBD e-liquids but again, being a total novice, I’m hoping for some affirmation before I go through with the purchase.
    Many thanks!
