3 Reasons Why CBD Gummies Are The Perfect Edible
Gummies are the perfect CBD edible in my book. Recently I was finally able to narrow down the three reasons why: Activation Time, Dosage and Control. Give me 5 minutes to explain:
Reason #1: Activation Time
Did you know that your body absorbs CBD edibles in two ways:
1. The CBD gummy way: That’s when the CBD enters directly into your bloodstream through the tissues of your mouth. “The fast route”
Sublingual CBD products such as gummies, tinctures, hard candies, and drinks provide a more efficient means of absorption because they can bypass the whole digestive tract and enter directly into your bloodstream through your mouth.
Different areas of the mouth have varying levels of absorption (under the tongue being the most absorbent followed by the cheek then the roof of the mouth) which means that cannabinoids coming into contact with these different areas will have different rates of absorption.
Soft gummies like Lord Jones and Pure Kanna breakdown in your mouth immediately, allowing the CBD to be absorbed and distributed faster.
But don’t worry, these gummies are as tasty as they are effective.
2. The baked edible way: Must first go through your small intestine and liver before entering your bloodstream.
By far the most common form of edibles is those absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract. CBD absorption via the gastrointestinal tract can only occur once the product has reached the small intestine and liver.
This includes things like cookies, pills, and snacks, which all require the food be processed in the liver before making it to the bloodstream.
From there, fat cells containing cannabinoids and other nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream (causing a powerful body high) and carried to the brain (the head high).
The whole process can take up to two hours to take effect and can remain in the bloodstream for many hours afterward depending, of course, on factors like a person’s metabolic rate, tolerance level, and food/drug interactions.
Dosage is hugely important, and gummies make that easy. There is a common problem, however, in that official CBD dosage recommendations are typically way too low for practical use. Here’s what you’ll find for those recommendations, along with their sources:
General Health: 1 – 2.5mg/day
Chronic Pain: 2.5 – 20mg/day: Source
Epilepsy: 200-300mg/day or 40mg/kg: Source
Sleep Disorders: 40-160mg/day: Source
Schizophrenia: 40-1,250mg/day: Source
Glaucoma: 15-40mg/day; over 40mg may increase intra-ocular pressure – The clinical trial states 2.5 – 4mg / kg of body weight. Source

The reason why I listed these stats and links is to prove that the most important measure one must take with edibles is dosage. Not knowing your dosage can turn you off from the unexpected reactions an edible can give you.
So again if you are new to edibles, you HAVE to start SLOW and dose LOW.
CBD Gummies come pre-measured in individual servings, making it easy for newbies and experienced CBD supporters to know the exact dosage they are using.
When CBD is absorbed sublingually, the effects of edibles are not only felt quicker but have an increased bioavailability of around 50 – 75 percent in some cases. This means that less product is needed to feel its effects, which saves both time and money.
Not only that, but sublingual dosages are easier to manage because fewer variables are at play – no digestion or “helper foods” are needed to be effective — and because it works so quickly, there is less likelihood of an uncomfortable case of overconsumption. Though sublingual cannabis doses may vary depending on the product and potency, typical dose recommendation is usually as little as a drop or two (i.e. 1-2 mg of cannabinoids) compared to gastrointestinal products which have a recommended dose of around 10 mg.
Reason #3: Control
Legalizing CBD has created a new wave of creativity in terms of edibles. CBD gummies are one of the most controllable and effective methods of reintroducing cannabis into your life or trying it for the first time.
The third reason that gummies rule other edibles is control.
Baked edibles like cookies and brownies can last up to 10 hours, oil-based edibles like gummies are immediately absorbed in your mouth and wear off in about 2-4 hours.
Why is it important to have shorter effects? Edibles are all about place and time.
Brennan Kilbane wrote in GQ that: “gummies are the drug you can do at work” because it doesn’t get you high. “And the secret to my happiness is a cannabinoid cousin of THC called CBD.”
Brennan continues with: “Here’s how it works: Every morning when I get into my office, I pop a frosted CBD gummy into my mouth for breakfast. Then, I proceed to have a wonderful day.”
“My CBD gummies, meanwhile, live in the top drawer of my desk. When I take one, I feel slightly but markedly better. My chair feels like it is mangling my body less. It’s harder to make a fist. It’s easier to navigate an hour or two of bullshit, which means it’s easier to do my job. It doesn’t matter if anybody notices that I am 10% more pleasant, because I feel 10% more pleasant, anyway.”
“Simply: Every day is a better day with CBD.”
Being able to control the amount of time and serving size of your edible is key to when you can take it. Gummies give you the flexibility and freedom to consume CBD anywhere, anytime.
Feeling confident that you know when your CBD will wear off, changes your entire mindset going into whether or not you should consume a CBD edible.
CBD gummies tell you how long and how effective each individual serving will be.
Like most of us, if you need an on/off switch from your edible than the only way to go is a CBD gummy.
Conclusion, are CBD gummies right for me?
Still not sold on why CBD gummies are the best CBD edible? That’s okay because, to be honest, I like all edibles, CBD gummies just make the most sense for me.
